Every time I try to start the Music Player, I get a Error M508: Application Error.

Anybody else encounter this or have a fix? TIA...

Edit to add: apparently the player just doesn't like some MP3 files. One album in my library has the cover art, so I tried playing it and it worked fine. Deleted everything else, and haven't had any trouble since. Now I just have to figure out what the difference is between "good" and "bad" MP3s.

not that error exactly, but when Im listening to music player and the phone sleeps, the screen will then not turn back on again when I try to wake it! It turns on the unlock screen, but you cannot get past that. I have to exit the music player before I let the phone sleep (which allows the music to keep playing). This is a stupid bug...

Hello,

I've started another thread "MP3 won't play" in this forum. I believe it's the same problem. In my case, I could find a few songs that would play, but most don't. All the tracks I tried so far were encoded with the same codec; they play fine on all the other players I tried. I suspect two things: 1- Either just a plain bad implementation in the Instinct reader or 2- abusive implementation of the DRMs.

For the record, I tried these tracks on two different flash cards and on two Instintcs

My files were encoded with Creative's Mediasource

Cheers

I have this exact same problem. The only workaround I could find is to change the display settings to not allow the screen to turn off and then play music. This problem started after I installed the update several days ago. The only other change to my phone is that I switched to a 4 GB micro SDHC card from a 2 GB micro SD card.

This is probably not the right place to ask this question so I apologize in advance. I searched the board but being such a NB to the Instinct s30 (yesterday) I may not be asking it properly. Pls read through the lines...

Can anyone advise me as to whether this phone will play audiobooks that I download online?  I can get them in WMA or WMD(?) format. Rarely can I find them in MP3 format.  And I'm not even sure how to get them from my laptop to the instinct s30 or what application to use to play them. I know I have a USB cable and I also have a 1 GB micro SD card that I could get an adapter. Can anyone help me or direct me?  Smiley

Welcome to the forum.  Yes, the instinct will play audiobooks, and they do have to be in the mp3 format.  I would say that you could find some free conversion software to convert the ones that aren't.  You play them through the music player, and when you put them on the card, put them in the music folder.  When you plug your instinct into your computer, it should bring up the autoplay prompt.  Select view files, and it's a simple drag and drop process from your computer to the card.

the last post in this thread has a link to some free audiobooks.

Thanks "Z" for the welcome and info!  Very helpful and it worked like a charm.  I haven't been able to locate a converter (downloaded three so far) and each one of them stops because the WMA file formats, upon conversion; tell me that they are "protected by DRM (digital rights management)"   Sad   Is that something that is standard in all downloadable books (music/media) or because I am using "free conversion software"?  If I can get this situation resolved AND figure out how to synch my outlook with my new instinct s30 - I'm going to be one happy woman!! Smiley  I'm enjoying this phone more than any I've used and I was an early adopter to the HTC series of smartphones ....certainly feature rich but not nearly as quick, refined and "upscale easy" as this new instinct is...I'm loving it so far! Tx again ~
