I tried what someone had suggested I pulled my SD card and installed in my laptop and after converting my music to mp3 dragged to my sd card. Now it works fine. So I avoided media manager and works fine.

Hey Guys.  I have a bunch of music files in the M4A/AAC format that is from my ITUNES folders.  I dragged and droped them on my 8 gig mini disk (and my 2gig as well)  then put the card back into my Instinct.  My instinct won't recognize these files.  I also tried to add the M4A files in the Sprint Media manger on the desk top and Media manager won't find them!   Any ideas?  Am I doing something wrong?

In Media Manager, click the "Add Media" button at the top left of the middle pane.  Then select the "Custom Search" radio button.  Click "Browse" and navigate to where your AAC files are locate on your desktop.  Click "ok" and then "Start" and your AAC files should get imported...  you should see the total number in the "Songs Added" box.

If you're just dragging and dropping, make sure to put them in the "MUSIC" folder on your SD card.  This should get created when you insert the SD card into the Instinct the first time.

Hope this helps...

I had an issue with the music player on my Instinct and I thought this is the best place to post the solution. When trying to play certain files, I got a "Media player is unable to play [song name]. Are you sure you want to delete it from phone" message, then the program quits. I finally figured out the player has problem reading special characters (á, é, í, ó, ú, ñ etc) on file and folder names. Just eliminate special characters from file and folder names and you should be good to go.

This seems trivial but it was quite frustrating for me because a lot of my music titles have special characters and there is no info on this anywhere since is probably not very common with most (English speaking) users. Anyway, I hope this helps anyone who has the same problem, cheers.

By the way, transferring music to my phone from the computer is one of the few major functions I havent tried yet, so we will see how it goes. I was able to re-downlaod the few songs I bought from the sprint music store. actually they are only five and i got them free.

ridiculous.

I thought it did.  I have been having to redo alot of the because the tags were not properly done.  Wrong spellings of artist and albums plus wrong song titles.  I have been using media monkey to help fix these errors.  The only problem I have really have and have not heard of a reason why is the album art not showing up on the player.  The art shows on the album tab but not when played.  It is random as I have seen the art when played one time but not the next.  I have been using Sanse MP3 art resizer to get them to fit the screen.  It does batch resizing of the embeded art work.  Real simple/fast/free.

I have the same problem of it sometimes reading my music and other times saying I have exceeded the memory limit. I have a 4 GB microSD and the music has all played fine before but sometimes it won't read it when it starts reading the SD card. Help!

ok heres the deal...when transferring songs from itunes burn them to a cd then load them in the sprint media player....make sure you RIP the CD...then when transferring them to the phone make sure they are all in MP3 format otherwise you will get the problem of the phone saying you have exceeded the number of songs allowed...i ran into this problem many times....i ended up deleting the songs from the phone and made sure all the songs on the computer were in the MP3 format and re-loaded them and it worked perfectly
