I've been viewing this website a lot, so thanks for what people have done so far.

I just got an Instinct today, and I have put some music on it, but it keeps telling me I have exceeded the limit and I need to delete some. Anyone else have this problem? I had 42 songs on it (all are from iTunes, DRM removed). I expected better. So, I tried putting on just one song, and it does play. But, this is ridiculous I don't have time to find the exact limit. I hope Samsung patches this. Any help would be great.

THAT HAPPENED TO ME AS WELL - BUT IM IMPATIENT, AND HAPPENED TO HAVE FIGURED IT OUT.. SPRINT MEDIA MANAGER IS GARBAGE.. I HAD USED IT AND IT CONVERTED MY FILES TO A FORMAT AAC THAT THE PHONE WASNT ACCEPTING... SO I DELETED EVERYTHING AND JUST PLUGGED THE CHIP INTO MY SD SLOT ON MY LAPTOP.. I COPIED AND PASTED THE MP3'S TO THE MUSIC FOLDER... HUALA.. IT WORKED.. IF U DONT HAVE A SD READER ON UR PC/LAPTOP I SUGGEST PURCHASING A USB SD CARD READER ITS DEFINITLY WORTH IT AND COMES IN HANDY FOR VARIOUS DEVICES INCLUDING CAMCORDERS, DIGITAL CAMERAS, PHONE CHIPS AND ETC... THEREFORE SAVE THE SPACE ON UR COMPUTER DELETE THAT POS MEDIA MANAGER AND LOAD MP3'S(MUSIC) VIA SD AND MP4'S(VIDEOS) STRAIGHT TO THE CHIP.. COPY AND PASTE BABY.. NOTHING BETTER THAN THAT...

Except iTunes, where you don't have to mess with the folder trees and finding all the songs.  Quick searching, adding playlists, I could go on and on.  One plus for the iPhone if you want to listend to music on your phone.

I don't think I'd end up having much music on the Instinct or the iPhone, but in terms of ease of use iTunes working with any iPod/iPhone is better than drag and drop in my opinion.

thanks for that tip... I do have an SD card reader on my computer, so looks like I'll just be directly loading unto the SD card (which the computer recognizes as a drive when a card is plugged in)... This all sounds the same as my camera SD card:I also ignore any nikon software and just insert the SD card from my camra directly into my computer.

But I am surprised MediaManager converts the file format, esp since all the advertizing says you can fit 2000 songs (or whatever it is saying) on the 2GB card.

By the way, transferring music to my phone from the computer is one of the few major functions I havent tried yet, so we will see how it goes. I was able to re-downlaod the few songs I bought from the sprint music store. actually they are only five and i got them free.

Ok so, thanks for the advice. I still have an issue now. Because I used SMM, it seems to have write-protected the microSD card. It wouldnt copy from my card reader. I plugged it in my instinct and dragged and dropped, but it still didn't work. Anyone know how to deactivate a phone from Sprint Media Manager? This is a major function I was looking at in the Instinct, and I hope it doesn't let me down.

The media manager should NOT purposely have the ability to write-protect your SD card.   Have you tried writing (i.e., dragging and dropping) any other files besides music (photos or video) to other folders on the SD card using Windows Explorer (either via cabled Card Reader or cabled Instinct) and seeing if they render on the Instinct?

I have also had that problem. Right on!  The most songs I think I was able to transfer was 22.  I took it to Sprint and they told me I had to format the card. Well I did that and still ended up with the same problem. I was told by the Sprint store that it would not play WMA files. So I tried one song and it played fine. I began loading MP3 and wma files together on the card, and I again I got the error msg.

So it begs the question will it play only MP3 or WMA.  The Sprint Media Manager allows you to import from Window Media Player. So I am stuck.

my guess it that it has to be related to a specific song that you're trying to transfer.  until a root fix is provided, maybe try (although very cumbersome depending on how big your playlist is) transferring a single track at a time in your playlist and then loading the music application on the instinct, to determine if there is a "problem" track.

just FYI.  i've been able to transfer and playback a mixed playlist of MP3, AAC (.m4a) and WMA (although can not transfer DRM protected tracks) format all on the phone through the music application.

Sorry. I eventually got most of my music to work by converting it all to mp3. Kind of a hassle from iTunes (but it can be done). Its odd though that some songs still won't read the ID3 tags properly, even though they are the same version. What is weirder though is when I play the song (on the Instinct) THEN it reads them correctly, but it won't work in the menus. I don't know, but I got it working enough to replace my iPod.

Hey Guys.  I have a bunch of music files in the M4A/AAC format that is from my ITUNES folders.  I dragged and droped them on my 8 gig mini disk (and my 2gig as well)  then put the card back into my Instinct.  My instinct won't recognize these files.  I also tried to add the M4A files in the Sprint Media manger on the desk top and Media manager won't find them!   Any ideas?  Am I doing something wrong?

Mine works fine. 8gig card. I originally tried the sprint software but after it took so long i decided to just load the files onto the SD card which still took a while but i think it was faster than the sprint software.
