I'm using just a standard pair of headphones with the Instinct, but I can't seem to get the volume to go loud enough. It's up all the way in the music player so far as I can tell. And the system volume setting is set to 8.

Is there anything else I can do?

You need to get a better set of headphones.  I use the small buds that direct all sound into the ear and have noise cancellation on them instead of standard headphones.  Cost a little bit more (got mine on overstock.com for cheap) but it is well worth it if you have a mp3 player or listen to music on your phone you will see a dramatic difference right away.  There is a reason that some headphones cost $6 and some cost $60.  Outside of that i would say clean your ears or go to the doctor, jk btw!

Yeh, I have the Bose in-ear headphones and the volume is just not loud enough compared to my mp3 player.

I dunno, either i have sensitive hearing or you just listen to your music much louder than i do cuz i dont even have a nice set of bose headphones and the music on the phone is about as loud as on my i-pod.  Maybe there is a short in the headphones or something.  Have you tried a different set?

I've noticed that the sound seems kinda low too. Aside from re-encoding your mp3s at a higher level I don't think there's a way to make it louder without an external amp.

Audio output is too low in either hardwired headsets or bluetooth. I hope this can be addressed by software modifications.

It really sucks. I hate carrying multiple devices when I buy one that's supposed to do it all. Instinct isn't a PDA, but even my Q had higher sound volume. Albeit, worse quality.
I figure the deal was, if the sound goes louder, it gets choppier. Someone just needs to find a system hack.

I have the same issue too with the volume with the music app or tv being tooo low. As it is I have a hearing impairment so the sound is already extra low.

Hopefully this is fixed in the next firmware update.

That does work if the phone locks you out from the volume but doesn't clear the issue. The ringer or speaker phone volume are loud but TV and music volume are way too low. (btw GREAT improvement with the video quality from the last update)

Try using Mp3Gain, Google it, and its free I put the settings to 99.0 and it keeps the quality too, for Mp3 or when converting to aac or mp4. Hope this helps  Wink

I believe that MP3GAIN, which I use too does a good job (you can even batch process all your files). BTW this is a reversible process, so you don't loose anything. On the other hand, MP3GAIN increases the digital level of your music, making it closer to full scale. Hence if the dynamic range of the track is high, you're more likely to hear some clipping. It's a good thing to try if your tracks don't use much of the digital range (encoded at low volume) but you need to be careful to not degrade quality.

Bell just released an update today that increased the volume on Media Player and Music Player. Sound Quality improved as well, its now just as good as any MP3 player, also a huge Bass improvement, I have cheap sony headphones and I hear the Bass pounding.
