Damn...Limewire is still going?    is it still as packed full of spyware as it used to be?   haven't used that in about 5 years to be honest.   When Napster blew it's fuse I went into AudioGalaxy and then opened my own Direct Connect hub,  after that I went to torrents and have had no need for anything else.

I love this forum,  teaches me something new every day.

Have you tried running the mp3 through a converter like Easy CD-DA  and seeing if the conversion back to an mp3 removes the DRM?     I doubt it would be that simple,  but worth a shot.

Yeah, Limewire is still alive, but it isn't AS packed with it as it was, but if you're dumb enough to dl "Name of your search here hot girl does something sexual with a guy" then you'll get viruses.
But, I've tried that, but then usually it cuts the song in half. I'll try some others.

My instinct does not play .m4a (itunes plus songs and those ripped from CDs on iTunes).  That's a big chunk of my songs!!  If you have a mac you can download "Switch" for free, a program that converts m4a to mp3's.  After I replaced them with the newly converted mp3's it worked fine!   Here is the link for Switch (mac users only):

I've been trying to put some new songs on my Instinct and they're all MP3, yet they're still not working. I keep getting the Maximum # of Songs error. I don't think any of them are protected, either. I'm really stumped as to what's causing this problem again.

I am getting the error too, I have tried all of the fixes, and I have read all he forum replies. I have a 16gb card and I get the same error.....it says 1223 songs are the maximum but I have half that....I dont understand why this error keeps popping up when no one is near the maximum number of songs.

Tech for the music player said Sprint would look into the problem concerning the song limit error.  It seems to be on Sprints end, not the makers of the music program...people who got the music player upgrade that botched the music player should have already been prompted to upgrade again to fix that issue...whether or not it happened, I don't know.
Seems only one Sprint rep responds to any Instinct problems anymore ( Thanks MDG ).  The other reps seem to have their hands full with the new Hero and all the joy it's causing the new owners....
You'd figure by now they'd at least fix the limitation part...but the post from businessjeff today says that hasn't happened...so???

As far as character issues, I have "Trentemøller" the crossed o is just a square box on my phone, still reads and plays.

I have a mix of mp3 and wma, nothing else.

5.3 gb of music, whats this about the 8gb limit? is that a software block?? This os should be able to run 16gb, in the same way that all 32bit os are capped at what 4 gb of ram usage. Theres a math formula behind it thats supper simple, escapes my mind atm

Haven't checked lately, but it seems I don't need to...

as far as the "Trentemøller" problem. That is because the music player/phone dosen't support those characters. It does it on mine for some Rammstien songs.

Earlier pages were suggesting illegal characters would cause this issue. Just pointing out i use them and it can play and read that file, however I guess it doesnt rule out that its somehow causing this issue, but thats so unlikely.

This is a bug that happened with the last update.  Before this, I didn't have any limit, and people testing their new 16 gig cards were successful in having read up to 12 gig of music without any problems...why they haven't fixed it is anyone's guess, and this seems it was passed on to HD owners as well....They need to fix this..
