my name's wes. I like touch phones. i like new technology. i like free open software. now that we're introduced...
I happen to love the Sprint Network. They've always been good to me, been friendly on the phone. Well done. Now a phone I might like...
Having said that I like open software, you can probably guess I like to customize things. Yep. I have Linux, yep I would told love to have the Freerunner. Too bad I can't use it with Sprint though.
Anyway, my major complaints and if anyone knows any better, please speak up. Oh and if you have no positive or constructive to add, please find another post.
I told my little brother I MIGHT take back my INSTINCT for the following reasons:
1. There's no T9 Input. While folks say, "Oh but it's qwerty, why do you need stupid old T9!?!" I say, "Go away! I like T9!!!! Screw you if you don't! [/li][/list] 2. You can't rotate pics. I took a picture of someone for a Picture ID. Yeah, I took it vertical. Now when they call I get a nice sideways picture of them! 3. You can't edit word files. Ok, this isn't necessary, but when you view a doc, you can only read text. No proper formatting of the file. I'd rather see the file like the browsers do it and scroll across to get the rest. Much better to have it look the way it's supposed to than just read the text as a blob of poop smashed together. 4. You can't view pdf files. That's just it. 5. The browser sucks. That's just it as well. Why can't they take something that's already there and use it? I'm not sure which crappy operating system they're using, but why not use something that already works like the open mobile platforms. Why not use the Mozilla code and make WaterWeasel or adapt Firefox as the browser. Ask google for a little help... 6. I can't customize ANYTHING!!! I can add a stupid Fav menu or change the HOLD background. yay!
So MAYBE I'll keep this phone, maybe I'll go back to my Sanyo RTL4930--yes it's ancient, but it makes calls and text messages just fine. I don't want the iPhone, I want an Instinct that is better than the iPhone, so I can stop listening to these idiots talk about their phones like it's gold. The iPhone didn't invent anything PS. They just ported a LOT of features to a mobile platform. Good job there. Actually quite profitable. I guess that's why the Neo Freerunner isn't so popular. It's OPEN!
