EDIT: TWITTER ISSUE SOLVED: RELOGIN TO FIX THANKS Smiley

{Okay so i got my Instinct HD yesterday. I was having trouble logging onto some services such as myspace, twitter, facebook etc. well they started working finally (passwords were correct) and when i got on twitter i could log in but anytime i clicked on a message to view the details it would say:

Error: A network error has occurred. Please try again later. Could not connect.

If i goto the @replies, messages or search tab i get an errors that says:

Error: java.lang.RuntimeException: JSON syntax errorclass java.lang.string

twitter worked FINE untill i update the software to the latest version. My phone info is as follows: }

version:
PRL:60659
SW:ES.M850 CI24 (this was I22 which was the 2 updates that i was able to do)
HW:M850.09
MCL:5.5.31
OPERA:9.70

i have written to tech support but i wont expect a response right away.

also in the manual it shows the HOME screen as being displayed both landscape and portrait mode. Mine will only display vertically. (see screenshot of pdf manual)

only during typing and in web browsing and certain screens does it switch to landscape.

also does anything actually run in the background. what is the app manager for if it doesnt?

i like the phone but ill go back to my blackberry if things have to be this complicated Sad

Funny thing about twitter...Everytime you leave twitter, it logs you out.....now you need to do it for real ( scroll to the bottom ) then log back in again.
The music player runs in the backround, kbtranslator seems to run in the backround too....

Just an FYI that screenshot that you posted is the web browser not the home screen.

If your screen does not rotate then the phone itself has a problem or I thought there was a setting i there to turn it off and on!

I am also waiting a while until the last possible day to turn mine back in, I am hoping they come out with a software upgrade before then cause I really don't want to take it back, I love it, but if I cant go longer than 6to8 hours between charges I got no choice!

Also BB does not have any other phones that I want, I was also thinking about the Hero, but who the hell puts a trackball on a phone, and a full touch phone at that!
I think it's just stupid!

Here are my previous phones

Samsung a900-first REAL cell phone was great till speaker got ruined
rumor-had very little problems but was stolen
htc touch pro- lots of lag and had problems with charging with 2 diff touch pros
palm pro- decided to go with blackberry and get away from touch because it was not very sensitive or touch friendly (mainly for stylus) and keys were small to type on
blackberry tour- has been my favorite so far just decided to get back into the touch and get something new since i was due for an upgrade..
instinct hd- already returned once because i thought it was "malfunctioning" however this replacement also does not react with the accelerometer and with the constant logging in and stuff i cannot just take having to do that 50 times a day...

i dont think a software update is enough to keep me i really liked the keyboard on my friends original instinct which is why i got this one. Now i was used to my bb trackball so im use to that but i dont think you HAVE to use the trackball for anything on the hero its just an optional use for browsing and stuff for the mouse. I think its a good idea they give you the option of use for those who are use to it..

I just wish we could get some more interest here on the forums, I don't think we are the only 2 with an HD!

Have you called tech support about the switching issue?

As far as the software upgrade goes, I think it would fix the phone and make it better than the original.
I just hope they get it out in time, because I really don't want to give it up!  I think of it as a PS3, no one has really unlocked the potential yet!

The accelerometer....interesting little tid-bit I've actually gotten used to, and it works the same on my wife's phone too
If your screen doesn't rotate when you tilt the phone to the left 90 degrees...while the phone's screen is still facing you, tilt the top of the phone towards you....should rotate.

KB made use of the accelerometer on this free demo he made, and you'll actually see the accelerometer works quite well...so, definitely something an update can fix.
http://instinct-software.com/2009/11/marblemazehd-preview/

The freeze that happens on the phone happens when your cnn/weather ( the K9 apps ) are refreshing, you'll notice the data signals are moving while the phone acts unresponsive.......again, should be fixed with our MR coming soon...

Hey psycho, just curious if you know what kinda time-line we are looking at for the next update?  I am kinda excited as I am hoping the update will take this okay phone into the stellar status, or back to BB status!

Thanks
