Yes it is... but M900 Instinct will have 1080p video capabilities with image stabilization and 3D games that I can play on my 52" LCD.  Plus 20 MegaPixel pictures.  I will probably be able to watch HD movies off my phone onto my TV, cool.

The M900 already exists.  It's called the Moment.  And it doesn't have near the capabilities you're describing.  I believe the HD will be the end of the line for the instinct.

And if I'm not mistaken, you can watch HD movies on your tv with the M850.

Why yes you can...just hook up the cable to a high def television, and play the movie or video from the phone....looks pretty awesome. Granted it's not 1080p, but there's absolutely nothing wrong with 720p
Broadcom did a great job with their part for sure...

and I blame sprint for this part.  Just look at ATT's hyping of the iPhone Gen2 (G3 iPhone), there wasn't much upgrades there, infact they downgraded the body from a metal to a plastic, yet it still sold...InstinctHD had much more improvements over either "upgraded" iphone, and look at the sales numbers.  Sprint wanted too much for the phone especially after releasing the first model for so cheap.

I love my instinct and when the HD get cheaper, I'll probably upgrade to it, but going from my A920 to M800 was the first time in 7 years I felt I upgraded phones...

Ok, I stand corrected on the name and yes you can play 720p movies but you have chop movies into to two pieces because there is a Fat 32 format limit of 4GB files and most 720p movies are between 5-8GBs in size.
But I do believe there will be a next generation Instinct with this 1080p chip because I don't see any other smart phone now or in the near future using our current video chip. Why? The reason has got to be cost.  They are perfectly content making huge profits off the current App market.

Stopped by a Best Buy tonight because  I wanted to buy two Instinct HDs.  They only had one left in stock and a salesperson checked their inventory database and told me they wouldn't be ordering any additional HDs because it was going to be discontinued on 1/24/09.  He showed me the screenshots as he was checking his system and I saw it myself.  He began doing an online search to see if there was any information out there about the next phone to replace the HD and couldn't find anything.  Does anyone know what is supposed to replace the Instinct HD?

Just because it showed discontinued dopesn't mean the line is actually discontinued, that may jsut mean the Best Buy has discontinued ordering the model because of less than stellar sales on it. There are currently more popular models and they probably wanted to sell those instead.
