I sent Mike over at Pandora an email today to find out if they were working on an app for S50 and to my disappointment he said, "I have never heard of that phone."  So, clearly there is not going to be an app in the next few weeks but maybe one day. He did say that there will not be an app for the S30. I will let you know if I hear anything else from him.

Oh I did. I first said the Samsung Instinct HD and in my followup reply I indicated the Samsung Instinct HD/M850. I told him it is the upgrade to the Samsung Instinct/M800.  I sure wish there were other streaming music apps out there for our phones. I love Slacker Radio  but we will never see it.

Here is what Mike just said: "Ok, I know we're still hoping to release an update to the M800 app.  I'm not sure if the HDM850 will be supported, though."

I sent a reply to ask what is making the difference between them being able to support the Original and not being able to support the upgrades. I will let you know if he says anything earth shattering.

Thanks, I will check it out. I have been streaming using my MIFI and Ipod but that eats up my data really fast.

Hell NO! 5gb/mth. I guess they consider it a broadband card.

And here is the sad news that will end any future Pandora discussions for the S50.

To tell you the truth, I'm not sure what the differences are, but we've been developing for different kinds of mobile platforms for a couple of years now and it's become clear over time that as a small company with modest engineering resources we should focus on developing for major smartphone platforms from here on out.  We're specifically looking for platforms that offer a clear path for development and certification, a strong likelihood of being able to re-use our code, and a robust platform lifespan.

My best guess is that it's not likely we'll have the resources to pursue other models of the Instinct in the foreseeable future.  I understand that may be somewhat disappointing, but we'd rather be honest with you now at the outset rather than disappoint you more deeply later on.

If having Pandora on the Go is a key feature for you, perhaps when it's time to upgrade you'll consider one of the ever-expanding options that do support Pandora?  http://www.pandora.com/on-the-go

Yeah, I called Sprint about it and voiced my complaint. I would even pay for more but they just don't offer it. Either 5gb or 300mb...seriously. BUT it is awesome to have internet where ever I go:)

Well here's the question, how did Sprint get Pandora to develop for the Instinct initially. Whatever they did they need to do it again.

Maybe we need to go over to BAW and start a "conversation" about it. Of course, what Pandora intends to do today is not necessarily what they will be doing tomorrow. They are a small company but I am sure that Sprint tossed some money their way to get them to develop for the original.

It works on my HD - it's sort of ugly because the HD's LDCUI menu overlaps Pandora's, but at least it plays music.
