Hey jmax626 could you please make a you tube showing us how you got the Samsung Instinct HD to tether, because we can't seem to find the M. IP tab using the latest version of QPST that you spoke of. Thanks.

JUST SENT YOU A PM. LET ME KNOW HOW IT TURNED OUT. USE QPST 2.7 VERSION 323. AND FOLLOW THE STEPS PREVIOUSLY POSTED FOR THE S30.

The only reason I'm taking it back is because it doesn't work as a modem, yes.

[snip]

Check that... I was able to get it to tether, but I'm disappointed the charging/data port only LOOKS like a mini USB port... it's actually still a proprietary connector - a mini USB plug will not fit into the port, so you cannot use 'any' A to mini-B USB cord with it... the idea of standardizing the charging/data port was so we (remember us - the 'customers'?) could *stop* having 2 dozen different wallwarts to charge our portable electronics and keeping track of which one fits what. So back it went. Again, I'll just stick with my original Instinct.

But thanks for the help, everyone. :-)

Hey jmax626 could you please make a you tube showing us how you got the Samsung Instinct HD to tether, because we can't seem to find the M. IP tab using the latest version of QPST that you spoke of. Thanks.

The way I would recommend is going to Settings->General, and do the Update Software, and Update PRL, then follow the instructions in the thread for the S30.

Once I added the Diag port to QPST Configuration, selected (clicked on) the port, did Start Clients->SERVICE PROGRAMMING, selected the phone (FFA/SURF 7625) in the 'active phone' list and clicked OK (I did not check Work Offline), clicked the Read from Phone button and entered the 6-digit MSL code (I'm not sure why some have a problem finding that... the salesman at the Sprint store was able to pull it up on his terminal and show it to me in my account info with a couple clicks), saved the stock settings to a file as recommended in the S30 article, scrolled over 5 clicks (trying an attachment, but it doesn't show in Preview), highlighted Profile 1, clicked Edit, copy/pasted my sprint user name from NAI to Tethered NAI, OK'd out, saved my changes to a new file (same folder as the original, with -NAI suffixed onto the filename), ensured 'Exclusive Access' was depressed, then clicked Write to Phone... the phone rebooted itself and I was able to add it in NCPA.CPL as a new connection/dial-up modem, no problem.

With the exception of doing the updates in Settings->General first, that IS the same process described in the S30 thread (just not bulleted into step-by-step format). Oh, yeah - and then I did Settings->General->Update Data Profile after the InstinctHD rebooted, too.

a big thank you to all the people who posted on this thread. i just got the new HD m850 and was having a hard time tethering this phone untill i read these posts.

i followed http://www.instinct-samsung.com/samsung-instinct-s30-tricks/s30-pam/  3rd post <psycho0272> has a link at the bottom, PDF guide with pics.

after following the directions <already had MSL# - called sprint, all i said was programming phone and wanted number in case i messed it up> on the PDF file i can now use HD PAM ;]

one thing, once you finnish the steps, you phone is ready to tether, you do not have to ##debugmenu# and turn in on... like the old instinct s30

thanks again all... my 24hr shifts at work will go by much faster now ;]
