Author Topic: HOW CAN I GET PAM/TETHERING ON INSTINCT HD?? HELP PLEASE!!!  (Read 8662 times)

I am trying to figure out how to get the Phone-as-Modem to work on the Instinct HD.  Does anyone one know how?  I have QPST build 301 and when i use it i can not find the M. IP tab.  Please Help me!!!

And yes i already know my MSL.  I just need help with the process because I can't find the M. IP tab.  I believe they configured this phone different from the S30.

Everytime I choose offline  ( in the qpst program ) I can see the M. IP just fine, but I'm not seeing anything there...online I don't see the arrows to get to the M. IP part....frustrating...someone will figure it out...hopefully sooner than later

I am beginning to lose hope that we will ever find a way to tether.. :/ I have searched everywhere for a method.. I even called up Samsung and spoke with technical support, they wouldn't tell me anything.. Please if there's anyone out there that may have a solution, help me.. please...

If I recall correctly, you need to use the tiny little arrow to scroll over to find the tab that you are looking for. When I had the HD, it took me a few minutes but I got it to tether with no problem.

everytime ive done a speed test on the display model  hd at the sprint store i get considerably higher download speeds then my original instinct or any of the other phones at the store all of the phones at the sprintstore moto`s, black berrys, samsungs etc were in the 400-800 kbps according to dsl reports

 but the hd was consistintantly getting 1.2-1.5 mps ... not sure if its just by chance but i think sprint boosted the bandwidth of the hd but at the same time made it harder to teather

after flashing the phone with the new changes, I am still not able to use my Instinct HD as PAM; I am using Sprint Smartview, every attempt to use the phone generates the prompt: An External Connection is already present; connecting is not allowed. Booting the computer with and without the phone attached to the USB port does not change the message. I tried to connect via bluetooth, it brought the modem screen on the phone but quickly disappears generating a connection error on the computer.
Any help solving this is appreciated.

GET THE NEWEST VERSION OF QPST. I JUST DID IT AND IT WORKS!!!

I don't find QPST anywhere; the BitPim Test version recognizes the Instinct HD on COM21 (tried changing the Port from Diag to Data in ##debugmenu# too), but I don't see any way to toggle NAI in BitPim or the debug menu, so every time I connect to #777 it's giving me error 67 - name/password failure.

I guess I'm going to return this HD model and just stick with my Instinct.  Embarrassed

Don't bother. I did find 301 on some pay pirate site...  but if I'm going to pay anyone for it, it would be qualcomm. I already have the HD packed up and I'm heading to the Sprint store right now to return it. Thanks anyway.

The only reason I'm taking it back is because it doesn't work as a modem, yes.

My 'future' phone is the same phone I've had for the last year and a half - an original Instinct SPH-m800 - which works fine as a modem just by installing the drivers from the CD that came with it, changing the Toggle NAI setting in the debug menu and unlatching the microSD card (a firmware upgrade about 6 months ago disabled the ##USB# command, but just pushing in the microSD to unlatch it does the same thing; then push it in again when finished, to latch it back in place).

There were zero torrents available for 301. I found 2.7b312 (3GB+) on another pay pirate site, but - again - I'm not going to pay anyone but qualcomm for it. Have a good new year. :-)
