There is much talk that the Instinct is open for development - that's a pleasant surprise - Samsung and LG phones are usually not good for development.  Apparently it even supports JSR82!

But now I hear that the JVM isn't compliant?  That it is missing lcdui?  Is there anything else missing?

No java app is able to use the keyboard. Sprint reports they will fix this soon in an update.

Any idea how this update will be rolled out?

I guess that only really keen users will get the update, so I can assume that most Instinct users can't run generic apps?

Already covered in other posts.  Most likely after the Sprint developer contest is over (end of August) so that all the apps developed for it are Instinct only.
