Howdy Devs,

Now that you've had a few days I'm very curious how MR6 has affected your ability to develop apps for the Instinct.  Is it really going to make your life easier and lead to lots more great apps?  Or, is it just a buch of hype and hooey?

What options are opened up with the latest update?  What are the big limitations are still in place make certain kinds of apps impossible for no apparent reason?

Any answer would be greatly appreciated.

We still have no way to alter anything in the OS, such as slide to unlock, themes, lock screen during call, etc.  These will all have to be addressed by Sprint/Samsung.  We can now use your memory card for our apps.  For instance, Checkbook now uses the memory card to export data instead of the email screen.  The Mobile Media API has been unlocked which allows the use of the camera, microphone, etc.  Also we can now access your address book, i haven't played with this yet so i'm not sure what this will allow.

Voicememo, Checkbook Improvements, and Filebrowser over at Instinct-Software.com are the first few apps to use the new features.  I'm certainly leaving some out.

Thanks for the insight Jman.  So, it looks like it is a tiny bit more open but still fairly locked down.   :Smiley

You can download media such as videos, pictures, and mp3 files in Opera Mini.
