My phone was dropped in the pool yesterday and I didnt notice it was there until like 2 hours later! I took the battery out and submerged the phone in rice over night. This morning, by some miracle, the phone powers on, and by voice command I can make calls, but the screen is oversized (large font, icons, ect) and the touch screen doesn't work. What can I do?? Is there any way to salvage it or am I screwed?  Sad

let it dry out some more i'd think.  Oversized might just be water under the screen (are there any bubbles?)  and if the membrane of the screen is flooded that would explain why the screen isn't working

If the membrane of the screen is flooded, like you explained, is there any hope for it? Because now the phone looks fine (powers on normally and the screen looks fine) but the touch screen doesn't work.

If it was in there for 2 hours, you're pretty much screwed.

i too have gone swimming with my phone. this is the second phone i have done that with. what worked for me was to put the phone in the oven (with door slightly open) at 200 degrees. my thought was to evaporate the moisture from the phone. it appeared to work.

I am not too sure if this was/is a great idea, being i dont know what the melting point of the phone is or any of the parts inside.

The oven might work but I would suggest you put it back in the rice and leave it there for several days, if not a week, to allow the water to completely evaporate.

i second f3justusc suggestion... i too have gone swimming with my phone and it still works too this day...but i spent 2 days babying it...then i went to El Paso, TX(very dry) and that helped evaporate the water from within the screen......rice and time are your best friend if there is any hope of saving the phone.. if it is dead for good a refurb really isn't the end of the world...most the time they have fixed the stuff that normally goes wrong with the phone by the time it gets to you. good luck
Dale

btw mine spend about 45 min in the water
