Voice memo recorder -- sorta

I keep reading that the instinct has a voice memo recorder but i cant seem to find the function?

Is the info i got wrong or am i just looking in the wrong place?

I can't find one either! I had one on my A900 and I'm a bit bummed there doesn't seem to be one.

In the one PDF guide I looked at, it had an entry about adding a voice memo to a pic before sending, but that was it.

i was hoping instinct came with a voice memo recorder. but it didn't really. the only way i can record voice memos is to click on voice mail icon then create new and enter your own phone number. then your messages will be sent to you via voice mail.

It's quite easy to leave yourself a voice memo.

I created a new contact and named it "Me". I put my number in as a Mobile number.
I put Voicemail at the top of my Fav list.

Then when I need to do a voice memo, I go to my Favs, tap VoiceMail, then "+". The first time, click Contacts and select "Me", but after that, "Me" will be right there as a Recent contact. Start talking, click the stop button when done and click "Send Msg".

You'll shortly get a voicemail memo from "Me". Visual voicemail helps nicely here.

Wow rick, I thought I was the only one silly enough to do that. At least I know I am not alone now. But hey, It DOES work, so until they come up with a fix for it...... gotta do what ya gotta do.

Real nice work around.

thanks I do use this alot and this should be very easy.

I just changed my VM ( what I had for My Info)to Memo in my contacts to make it even easy for me to see them in Visual part

Thats seems like the best solution for this problem cause i have found a better way to leave a voice memo...

It's funny because in the User Guide under Speech to Action it says

"Your device's Speech to Action feature lets you place calls using you voice, store voice reminders, and record memos right on your device. This section includes easy-to-follow instructions for using voice-activated dialing and managing voice memos"

The thing is there's nothing in that section about voice memos at all!

Great idea to voicemail yourself.

This is yet another example of false advertising! I've used the work-around presented here before. Now, I have a message to myself saved in my voicemail for easy access whenever I need to leave me a voice reminder.

Just remember that the Instinct can record video as well as voice. I use my instinct to record song ideas by going to Fun | Camera then clicking the video icon in the upper right corner. Click the button on the side to start videoing and whalah...you are recording voice and video which is great since I record lyrics on my computer screen as I sing the song idea. Click the button again to stop. Your video file is then saved in your Photos folder and easily transferred via usb to your pc.
