I did a search for this and couldn't find any info so I hope this isn't a re-post...

I'm trying to transfer music from my PC to my phone.  When I transfered an album to my phone using the Sprint Media Manager, the songs showed up in my phone in alphabetical order (instead of the order they are on the album).  How do I organize the songs to display and play in the order they are on the album WITHOUT creating a separate playlist?  In other words, I would like to be able to just tap the "Album" tab and have my songs play in the order they are listed on the back of the CD cover.

Thanks in advance for any help.

the only way i could get it to work is to put them in a playlist, order them, and then transfer to the phone.  then they play in the order of that playlist.  otherwise, if no playlist, as you mention, it's alphabetical order - seems to be a function of the music player...  i'll post back if i can find another way.

touch the small arrow to the side of a playlist... it will bring up a menu that says change Song Order.. then all you have to do is touch, hold and drag to the place you want it to play in what order...

This is to do it on the phone... the best way is to use the Sprint Media Manager and create your playlist that way and send it over... that way your not pulling your hair out...

As for those that have issues with Sprint Media Manager I have no idea what to tell you folks... I've installed it on my work laptop and my MacBook on Parallels and no trouble...

Maybe the long way around but make sure that the song is tagged with artist - album - track -name in that order.  Then they should be alphabatized in the album order.

just another tip that may help with organizing, you can also add "track number" to your column list.  it doesn't default with this field, so you have to add it.

in MM, go to preferences -> choose music columns -> check the "track" box -> (move it up/down in the order).  Select "OK".

After I did some testing, it seems that the Instinct recognizes the track order of mp3 files in an album/playlist (to MM, everything is a playlist), but not m4a files. Previously ripped mp3s never gave me a problem, but most of my existing library is AAC. I suspected I either had to re-rip the CDs to m4a in MM or re-rip them to mp3. Ripping a CD to m4a made no difference -- the tracks still showed up alphabetically on the device, even when the track column is first in MM. MP3 rips, on the other hand, worked find. I didn't try WMA.
