i found out how to lock call's during a CALL!!! not really but i think my replacement phone...(my other thread http://www.instinct-samsung.com/general-samsung-instinct-discussions/beware-replacement-phones/) has some kind of defect kuz everything thing else is damned near a defect......well as i was waiting for the 80+ minutes with CS complaining and what not, my phone went into sleep mode. well actually it jus went to the wallpaper, and once u press the power button and release quickly, it went to the wallpaper and clock screen, jus as if you would do it normally and not on a call. i unlocked it and there i was back at the call screen....so if u want ur screen to close while you're on a call, get a replacement phone and call CS for 1 hour PLUS and there u have it. laugh......i'll be gettin another phone within the next 1-2 business day, so damn the lock screen during call feature.lol........

btw, my replacement phone came in with the bh30 firmware, but i did a software update, and it switched it to bh29(my original instinct's firmware)...odd huh??? Cool

I have actually discovered that you CAN lock the screen but only when talking to CS. Any other phone call and the screen won't lock. So its not that the phone CANNOT lock during the calls, its just not programmed to do it for regular calls. Weird huh? I was on the phone with CS/TS trying to get them to allow me to program the phone to lock the phone regardless of the menu/feature I am using. But get this, THE CS's COMPUTER LOCKED UP!.. haha

I wanted to update this thread because I've inadvertently found a way to lock the screen whilst in a call.

1. Call someone, anyone, I don't care.
2. Hit the home button while in the call and click "messaging"
3. Send yourself a text message.
4. When the notification comes up don't press "dismiss" or "view"
5. Just hit your power/lock button.
6. Your screen is now locked.

Enjoy!

Tell me about it... it's frustrating when you're trying to talk to someone and you didn't realize you hit the mute button with your cheeks or chin... this definitely solves some issues for those folks who don't have bluetooth and hate using the Instinct's OEM head set...

I think its funny that we have to do workarounds just for little functions like this to work. Its also another workaround to it by keeping the phone on lock when you answer it but this way seems easier

Two more tips when using this method that could save time...
1.  You can start doing this method when the call timer is at .01
2.  Already have the text draft pending ( waiting to be sent )

Actually I have found the text is sent and received almost immediately. I have no choice but to talk on the phone for long periods of time, so this is worth the extra 30 seconds considering I can be on the phone for hours...

It's not meant for everyone, but you CAN lock the screen now. Tedious? Yes. A fix? Yes. Generally worth it? Depends on you.

Thank you!  The most frustrating part of the whole scenario is that you CAN lock the phone while talking to CS, so why not be able to lock it ALL of the time?   Angry
