Have you checked if it played on the computer? Have you checked to make sure volume is on and at max on your instinct?

You may have turned OFF audio while changing audio settings.

No, I'm lame, and very new to this kind of stuff..  I forgot to try to play it on my computer first.   I did though make sure the volume was up on the Instinct and even tried with the headphones on.   One thing though, when the movie does play, the little button you can press to mute the sound keeps changing to the speaker with the "x" over it, like it's muting itself.   I'm going to try again tonight.

I had the audio set to "normal".  What should the type of audio be, MP3 or the other choice, which I think is AA something. (I'm not home to look at it)

Thanks again.

I found that when first playing a ripped movie file (mp4), the audio is extremely low.  I can put the phone up to my ear and hear it slightly.  Even pressing the volume up button doesn't increase it.  If you hit the back key, then hit the volume up button a few times and then relaunch the video, it plays loud as hell!  You can use the volume down button to lower it if you want.  I didn't have this issue whith converted video files (like mpgs and wmvs).  This only seems to be a problem with ripped movies (at least for me).  But at least there is a way around it...

playing with the setting in WinMediax..... the setting that i think look the best is actually 368x 256...... the other setting that were stated before looks like a pack of cigarettes (to small)....when the shot is from a slight distance there is slight grain but for the most part the pic look excellent IMO..... thank you for this post btw  Grin

I had ripped a DVD to VOB files and had a hard time trying to find something that would convert them to an mp4 for free. Handbrake did the job outstandingly. FYI.

tips:  when doing a movie, use 24fps.  when doing a TV show (NTSC), use 30fps...  Films & TV are made and distributed at those framerates.  Most problems that people have, i.e. jumpyness, out-of-sync, hiccups; are all caused by changing the framerates.

"The setting you want to use should be a little different than for an ipod, for best picture.  I would use 24 fps "frame rate", video bit rate 1200ps, audio bitrate 320kbps, audio sample rate 48hz and resolution 240 x 432 deinterlaced...Now according to your movies/videos you can adjust settings as needed."

I converted the video file using those settings with the program mentioned. When I go to play it on my Instinct, it won't load.
