I just recent got and Instinct and can receive and open pdf files that are attached to my e-mail. The problem is once I blow them up large enough to read they are unreadable. Pixel problems I guess. I got this phone so I would have this ability. Any suggestions out there.

Not trying to be a smarta$$, but if this is that important to you, get another phone.  The pdf reader is just sucky.

How do you use opera to look at pdf files?  I downloaded opera mini today and opened a pdf file i got from my email and it didn't open as a pdf file but as a text document.  The pdf file i was opening was originated in excel and saved as a pdf for ease of emailing.  might that be the problem?

I mainly use gmail, so I have one of my speed dials set as my gmail inbox.  I can then just open the attachment to the email in HTML form.  Your problem might be that they were created in excel, never tried or had to open one from excel sorry.  :-(

It's a matter of how the PDF is created. If it's scanned or converted, such as an efax doc, it's an image, just like a jpg file, which causes the pixelation. If it's actual text, it'll scale correctly

It is efax docs but I have to do something to make these readable. I love the phone but this is a must. I may end up changing.

Unfortunately, it's a tough spot to do it easily.  Since the fax is scanned in by eFax, it isn't a raw text document and will just show an image which pixelates.  There may be a site that you can view PDFs as image in Opera but I'm not sure where it is.  I use eFax also and it makes it difficult.
