Ok, I know you need an Everything plan to buy the Instinct from Sprint. However, I have the $69.99 Shared Family Plan with 700 minutes and have the $20 Data Premier add-on for my number.

If I buy a used/new Instinct from ebay or someone else, would I be able to switch my current M520 phone to the Instinct? And would I still be able to use the Data and GPS features on the Instinct with my $20 Data Premier add-on?

Howdy..well...the best I believe anyone on this forum could answer is "it might" The whole 2 year anything package deal was to get the phone at a discount brand new from Sprint....
I predict a call to Sprint in your future. When you do find out, please let us know.
Thanks.

**edit**
ok..I was just by the sprint site and the least expensive family plan that is offered with the Instinct is the
"Everything Data Family 1500" for 129.99.

that plan will NOT work. I sell sprint and when you try to add something like that to a account it wont let you proceed without a rate plan change, even if you log into your account and try to do it yourself, the only other plan that i've have seen work is the 3rd party employee plan

Instincts only work for Everything Plans.

3 different individual plans.
450, 900, and Unlimited

Or

3 different family share plans
1500, 3000, and Unlimited

And yes the only other exception is the Employee Plans

My advice is this:

Don't upgrade your handset to an Instinct unless the benefits outweigh the extra expenditure. Personally, I would just keep my current phone. I know that I about choked on my own tongue when my first bill came for the new SEP. I've grown accustomed to paying $115 a month. Sometime's that's hard to keep swallowing... (that's what she said...)

I had the same plan.  I think they called it something like one of their legacy plans.  Because of an issue with Sprint a couple years back, I had free Internet and text messaging for as long as I was a Sprint customer.  They said regardless of that, the old plan would not work with the Instinct or any "new" phone.  I really wanted the Instinct, so I had to switch plans.  They now give me like a $5.00 discount to compensate.  $5.00 doesn't equal "FREE" but oh well.  BLUF:  Even if you buy the phone outside of Sprint, when you try to get it activated they'll make you change plans. If you're on a family plan, the cheapest one is like $120.00.
