I finally got so frustrated with the mobile sync, that I brought my phone back to sprint, paid them 55 bucks, and got a new phone (and some insurance).  I know, I should have bought the insurance to start with.  Speaking of insurance, it's quite the scam, isn't it?  I mean, the phone is under warranty anyway, but who can afford to not have a phone while it's being mailed back and forth?  That's how sprint gets away with insurance payments, by not giving you a courtesy phone in the meantime.

Anyhow, back to subject.  My mobile sync is now working flawlessly.  Funny thing is, my contacts that never synced to the website before, started showing up on my phone, and on the web site.  Makes me think that they were stuck in cyberspace limbo for a long time.  I think there was a brief period where it was working, and then it stopped.  I haven't done any updates to the phone except for the Sprint TV app (you have to do this one if you use it).  Should I hold off on the updates, or perform them?  I'm most afraid that Mobile Sync will stop working again, but are there any other reasons that I should or not update?

Yes, the insurance is quite the disappointment.
7 dollars for full coverage and you pay 50 dollars more for a new phone.
Its a good deal, just not GOOD.

If it was me, I'd just update the music player and nothing else.
I'm still experiencing glitches from the software update and I don't think Pocket Express made big enough improvements.
Just stick with the current versions until better updates come out.

I have updated with no problems My Mobile sync has been working from day one as well.

I still think it's a problem between the Phone and server and your new Phone may have remided that.
$7 a month and $50 for replacement still beats $449 for a new phone.

I normally run the Ins for the first year and then look at whats new out and cancel it.

This is the way I've been leaning.  On the upside with all this, I have a phone with no scratches and my invisible shield, four batteries, two battery chargers, and two full sets of cords.  I just brought my phone in expecting them to just give me the phone.  They gave me the whole package, including the battery that I had brought in with the phone.

The biggest thing that sucks about this phone, is when software updates, you can't roll back if it has even more problems.  All we can do is hope that samsung/sprint decides to roll it back with (yet) another update.  I'm still open to hearing from more people, though.  Put in your two cents if you're reading, please.

Oh yeah, I'd like to add something interesting here.  I had to go to the store twice.  The girl at the counter told me that I'll have to call tech support because I didn't have the INS, and all they can do at the store is check for water damage.  Ok, so I go home, call tech support, who sends me back to the store for a new phone.  Plus, the girl taking care of me tells me that I'll probably break the touch screen by using the invisible shield.  She told me it happened to a customer 3 times.  Is this some scam because they don't sell it at the sprint store?

Keep it on topic, gentleman. Not sure how insurance relates to updating your phone or not.....

You could always do a reset on your phone, right?  I mean, it's by no means an easy way to roll back updates, but at least it would put you back to factory settings.. Or would it?

I dont believe it would, I think it overwrites current versions when you update, I don't think it keeps the old version

J.T. is right, Gudge.  A hard reset only deletes your contacts/messages, and and restores all the stupid "how do I know if I'll like a game after a 30 second demo" games.  I would seriously like them to post all the software versions somewhere for me to choose if I want to roll back.  It's very evident that the software developers are not doing the "all around the phone" tests on stuff they put out.  That seems to be our job.  If we don't like it, just wait to see if they'll fix it.  Now, after replacing my phone, I have the infamous browser favorite button issue.  I sure hope they get this BH29 out soon, if there's really a new browser in it.  I don't have that much of a problem with the current browser, but I'd like my favorites to work at least.

The problem I see is some updates are made with the updated SW verison.

So if you decide not to update that then you may not get or end up with corrupted App updates.

So if you rollback ( through URL copying) or deny what will that do to your future updates.

Well first you turn off caps lock so your posts don't hurt our eyes. I think if you go online and go to the contact list and send it to the phone it should work... But I couldn't stand staring at the horrors of your post any longer, so idk what the last 4 lines say. In other news...what does that have to do with this thread?

Sorry for the dumb question, but here goes:

So if you have insurance and go in the sprint store and pay $50+, do you get a instinct or another phone?

You get an instinct, if they don't have it though, they will NOT give you a loaner phone until it comes in. Now what if they discontinue the instinct...will I be able to get an instinct2? This is what I wonder when the time comes.

Depends.

It's up to them what they consider a "comparable" device.  Same story for any phone.

Some people wanting a Q9c replacement, CSRs tried to force the Samsung Ace (which isn't that comparable) as a replacement when the q9c was out of stock.

Be prepared to fight for the phone you want and you still might not get it.  They will push whatever phone they want to get rid of and/or have in stock easily.  Sequel phones are not typically going to be considered "comparable" by Sprint.

JT, absolutely nothing.  LEATHALOTT's post has nothing to do with this thread.  According to Emtbreid, neither does insurance issues.  I just hope this thread doesn't go to 10 pages so it can be moderated again  Wink  I ended up doing the updates in accordance to ImNoPrince's post.  Although, in retrospect, I don't think that's right.  If I were to get a new phone tomorrow, it will come stock just like any other phone I may have been using for 3 months.  If he were correct, then doing the update would just mess the phone up.  Well, now I have a new phone with updated software, mobile sync doesn't work anymore, and in addition to all this, my browser favorites button doesn't work.  I'm waiting for the update to see if any issues are fixed.  I have confidence that the browser issue will be fixed since it's supposed to be a new version of the browser.  We'll see.  If not, then it looks like another new phone is in the works.  I love the phone, but I'm disappointed.  I really expected everything to work flawlessly since they were touting it as the Iphone killer.  You don't hype up a product that much and deliver inferior technology.
