A few Hours ago I was still using my Instinct without any problem, but just now when I unlocked it the touch screen became irresponsible when I touched it. The side buttons are still working, all of them. I have tried power cycle many time but no luck. I have no idea what happened but I can guarantee that there was absolutely no drop or damage of any kind.

I googled a little and found this on youtube. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rst5yv2cc-w

This guy has almost exactly the same problem as me.

Please Help! Thanks!

And I just realized that the screen would not turn off automatically (No Auto Lock) unless I press the Lock button.

Did you try a soft reset by pulling the battery? I say you're screwed, go visit sprint.

I did try pulling out the battery. I am very happy; I just got it 10 days ago.

Do you remember what you were doing before it went stale? If there was no incident that explains this (dropping it, or weird software) then I'd say you are eligible for a phone swap. I have only heard of this happening to a few people but that might just be out of ignorance. Sorry to hear about your phone.

Ten days? Isn't that within the no-questions-asked period?

The last time I found it working I was answering a phone call, and after that I put it in my pocket.

It's actually a bit more than 10 days. I purchased my Instinct on Sept 10, which was 13 days ago.

Your good take it back for a replacement.  Have you tried the Speak to action button on the Side to see if that kickstarts it back to life.

Also try pluging it into your computer to see if that has any effect on it.

The Speak to Action button works, but it wouldn't do anything to the touch screen.

I'm at work right now so I cannot test if connecting to PC would have any effect. I might try it when I'm home, but I think I'll head straight to Sprint after work.
