I stress tested the Navigation today for the first time...in Seattle. My current/old GPS system is a TomTom One XLS which I owe my life since moving up here to the Seattle area and having to work in and around Seattle. However there have been times when my TomTom says "Exit left" and I look at the screen and it shows I should exit right. I can't tell you how many times I've circled I-5 and I-90. I guess Seattle may be too much for my TomTom. But today, wow. I can honestly say that if nothing else, the Instinct's navigation is worth the money. Not once did it tell me to go down the wrong road or mix up directions. And even going through the I-90 tunnels, where my TomTom loses signal and has to guess that I'm still traveling through the tunnel, the navigation never waivered. And the traffic update is worth twice its weight in gold. I had to drive up 405, which is the 7th circle of hell when you're in a hurry. The navigation tells me 405 is backed up and finds a new route that is clearer. It even shows the speed of traffic on the roads.

I read in the options that you can get on sprint.com/navigation and add destinations and stuff online that go to your phone. So I get on and put in my phone number and the pin from the About page, and its incorrect. I thought I typed it wrong, but no. So I hit "Forgot PIN" and enter my phone number. And it fails and says it can't send me my pin. I call Sprint. I get this lady that after 30 minutes finally realizes what I'm trying to do. I say "Forget it" and go on to ask about why the service map shows full signal at my house but I get 1 bar. She says she'll put in a request to engineering and gives us a "bonus" of 500 minutes for the month. Whooptie doo. I heard about people on here getting Airaves sent to them so I ask her about them and she doesn't know anything about them. Feh. Guess I'll call back tomorrow.

Oh and what really pisses me off is when you've been talking to a rep for 45 minutes about your problem and your phone hangs up on you and you have to call back and there's no way you can get back to the person you were talking to before so now you have to spend another 45 minutes just to get back to where you were. Why can't reps call you back if you lose your connection? She probably was just glad to get rid of me.

From the looks of it, sprint navigation adds navigation to your phone, but the instinct appears to have all the features it offers.  It doesn't appear to have online functionality, from the 'tell me more' page.  you can add your favorites in the navigation in the instinct already.

When it works, the navigation is great.  but sometimes when moving around on the map it forgets to re-draw; I have to back out & start over.  The traffic updates do work quickly though.

I am experiencing the redraw problem almost every time I use the navigation now.  I use to work great but now, after about 5 min of use, all side streets disappear and all you have left is a blue line indicating the street that you are currently on.  This is extremely annoying.  It does correct itself if you back out and then come back in, but that entails looking up the address again, which is not convenient while driving.  I sure hope this gets fixed soon.  This was one of the key features that drew me to this phone and I was initially impressed.  However, the current functionality is much worse than my old, outdated Magellan GPS, which I now am using again because of this problem.

I ran my Instinct nav side by side with my Tom Tom 900 (not a cheapy by anyones standards) last night on the way out to a pet shop in the sticks.

They ran perfectly side by side and never once did the Instinct fall behind or lose signal, the only difference I could see was the fact that Tom Tom shows the roads you are not on and area's of water etc that are close by.

I have noticed with the instinct that sometimes if you vary from where it is telling you to go, that it sometimes loses track of where to send you and you look like your in the middle of nowhere with a red dotted line pointing to where you should be...if you press the 'summary' button it rechecks the route and gets you straight back on track.
