From buzzaboutwireless.com, posted by a Sprint employee.  Finally some more definite info about "the fix".  Hopefully their testing doesn't take too long, so we have the fix in 5-8 weeks.

Sprint anticipates the LCDUI fix entering certification test on or around October 13.  This date is subject to change based on results of unit and system testing.  When the MR for the LCDUI fix enters test, we will be publishing public release notes with the anticipated over-the-air release dates, subject to change.

Congratulations - it's in the works folks!  The petition worked, and can now be closed.

They should test the software "in field".  Send it to our forum members and we'll be happy to report back if it works. :-D

Warning: using LCDUI fix may cause Instinct to spontaneously combust.  Samsung or it's distributors will not be held responsible for any wrong doing due to Samsung Instinct instantaneously busting into flames while using LCDUI fix.

Isn't that right around the same time the Winners for the Apps are suppose to be announced.

Man Sprint is putting a bit of a bad taste in my mouth with this entire thing.

And this is just Certification so who knows how much longer that will take.

I also like how he requested the petition to be closed. Who is he kidding he works for Sprint and we still have nothing firm about a date on compliance

When I have a keyboard that works as has support from Sprint in case it has bugs (yeah right) then I will no longer support the petition. Until then, I will not be placated.

No, like ImNoPrince said, just because something enters the certification/testing process it could be held up quite a while. Since this is a change that is systemic throughout the phone, it will certainly have errors, bugs, and crashes. Additionally Will's statement is full of the typical caveats (e.g. subject to change dates) which mean that if there are ulterior motives (the development of Sprint only programs as opposed to standard MIDP 2.0 compliant programs) then they could hold it off at their whim.

They have been saying for months that they are working on this. This announcement is simply stating that it continuing to be worked on and it is simply to placate us. To give us a crumb to keep us satisfied while still denying us the whole cookie.

This was proved in Will's unnecessary statement to remove the petition. If he truly advocated for us (instead of just being a Sprint PR guy) then he would not tell us we had succeeded. We have been told ad nauseum that they are working on this. The cited statement is simply a reiteration of that fact so please don't hold your breath until they open the update for OTA.

Sorry to rain on the parade with a touch of realism Sad
