I, along with a lot of other people have been having some issues with the mp3 player, among other things.  I am getting the "You have exceeded the maximum number of songs" message.  I have been unable to find any solutions for this problem online and through previous emails with Samsung support.  They finally emailed me their phone number and had me call.

I explained the problem with the mp3 player.  I also have switched to a 8gb microSD card.  He told me that there is no reason why I should be getting the error and that it is indeed a bug in the software, not a actual limit to the number of mp3's that can be accessed.  He also said that the Instinct is compatible with up to the 32gb microSD card....

So, to make a long story short, he said that they have been taking note of the issues people have been calling about with the Instinct and that they plan on releasing a software update in 3 weeks.  So maybe it would do us all some good if we called about the problems that we have been having so that we can increase the probability that they will be fixed.

Here's the number: 1-888-987-4357  I was transferred to a Level 2 tech.

Not sure who you talked to, but I called the same number and got "We're sorry sir at this time there are no updates available and do not know of any updates coming up." I'm hoping I just got somebody who has no clue, and I also hope these guys get their crap straight before the 20th of July, when the first 30 days comes to an end........

I got my phone last Saturday so it has been a week so far. I am waiting for 2 more weeks and if after 3 weeks I am having the same issues, it is going back.

I am not willing to take a chance and get stuck with a 2 year contract waiting for updates.

No the software update is free, once it becomes available you can update it by going to settins-General-update software all the way at the bottom.

Yes the instinct is compatible with the 32gb sd cards, but the only problem is that these cards did not come out in the usa yet so well be waiting for those a while or just try and find a forean online store where you can order it.

They say 8gb micro SD because that is currently the highest one available. Even if that is what it actually supports a simple update could change that.

Maybe I missed the number in all of this but I also am having issues with the music player.  Originally I loaded 1500 songs and it keeps giving me errors so I am going to under 1000 and see if that takes care of it.  I do have a 8gb card.  Any tips or knowledge you may share with me...thanks in advance...

Strange, everything I've read says 8G.  I know the Blackberr Curve says it can use up to 16GB.  I usually listen, because a friend of mine has the DUO, and it says 2G.  He ran out and purchased a 4GB card, and it doesn't work in his phone.  He's going to test it in somthing else, to make sure the card is good, but we're expecting it to be the size limitation, I have yet to find anyone that has gotten a bad SD (flash) card. *shrug*

Would be sweet if it could handle a huge card, but then again, if there's a "song limit" to exceed, then the big card isn't going to be much help, unless you're converting movies to put on it.

As of the webcast today, NO the phone we currently own will not support cards larger than 8GB. These quotes were taken from the transcript here
http://wikis.sun.com/display/SPRINT/Sprint+Samsung+Instinct+2008+07+09+Webcast+1+of+2

k_mehr: Will the Instinct be able to handle/support a 16GB or 32gb MicroSD card whenever they are released?
Ram_K> Instinct at max supports 8GB MicroSD card but we are definately going to look at extending this functionaly in our future releases. Thank you for your feedback.

mmbeltran: When you say that you are looking at extending the functionality to support more than 8gb in future releases, does that mean future hardware releases or firmware/software based updates?
Jay-Sprint> Support for larger memory cards is hardware dependent and will be a consideration with next generation of Instinct models.
