Hello Everyone,

I saw this for iphones, and wondered if it might work on the instinct.

http://homepage.mac.com/mdmalin/biz/Site/iPhone_WebApps/Entries/2007/11/12_Photo_Forward.html

Apparently the iphone web browser safari will not save images either, but this seems like a way around it. From the web page description all you have to do is put all that code into a Bookmark.

I wondered if anyone else had seen this, one; and two I wondered if anyone knew a way to put all that code into a book mark without typing it all! The third quandry would be, this is just plain Java right? It should work with the Instinct?

PS: I searched and did not see anything that was similar to this, so hopefully I am not repeating or rehashing.

Sean Small, D.Min.

update:

I found the bookmark file on the phone:
bkm_q7.dat

And attempted to change it and upload it back to the phone. I do not know why, perhaps someone else would, but the file reverted back to the original install version. I am not a developer or programmer, I can do graphics though, so maybe there is something I am missing.  Any ideas? This would be neat to get working.....

Why did you modify a file? Just a quick read the descriptions says to copy a url and send it to the phone in an email?

I believe and I may be wrong, what you were referring to was a description of what the code will do once you have it programmed. It will email you the link to the image.

I think the directions for use are:
"To install, go to your Mac/PC and copy the code below.  Then make a new bookmark, name it PhotoForward, and paste the code as the URL."

Well here is another update:

I have tried various ways of trying to add the text to create the bookmark, and well, the built in browser seems to not be able to deal with the JavaScript.

So I downloaded Opera and tried syncing the bookmarks similar to how the page says to sync with the IPHONE. all goes well but OperaMini doesn't seem like it can handle the JavaScript either.

I was a little down, hoping this would work, and could be a short term solution for downloading images.

The upside is that in doing this, found a way to backup your history list and your bookmarks for the built in browser using BitPim, so that is a plus! I can share the path if someone doesn't know or needs to know.

Thanks Chibucks,

No need to be sorry, looks like I failed to search the topic to its fullest extent. Still there is something fun and challenging to try to do something on the Instinct that can be done on the Iphone. I really appreciate the note, I will search the image change in policy.txt

Thanks Again

dr, the java code method does sound like an interesting way as well.  i'm sure you'll find more things the more you play and experiment with the instinct.  good luck!
