Ok, so I just installed Windows 7 on my Netbook.  I then installed the Sprint application that has the drivers (like I have SOOO many times before).  This time, when the actual driver installs, it errors out and then it says unknown device in device manager.  Does anyone have an idea where I can get a new or different Samsung mobile modem driver or any other ideas to fix it??  I have tried both USB ports to no avail.  I have tried uninstalling and reinstalling the driver, still nothing.

Yes.  It sees that there is something there when I disconnect and it will even try to install the driver, but it still says error on install and dm says "unknown device"

To be more specific.  When I install the modem part . . . it successfully installs "Samsung USB composite device" and "samsung mobile modem diagnostic serial port (WDM) (COM3)" but I get "unidentified device" for what should be the modem driver itself.

I should also point out that I am using one the latest RC versions of Windows 7, and the first time I did it (back when it was beta) it worked fine on this same netbook.  I am wondering if something might have changed in the Windows build that is affecting this.  I also tried compatibility mode, but same issue.

well it works on my end rc 7100.....had to do some fiddiling but thats the case with beta software..

conenct phone to usb....slide disconnect.....wait for windows to error out saying driver not installed.....go to start menu > devices and printers......find the samsung cdma icon should have a red error icon over it.....right click and go to troubleshoot.....windows will pop-up saying driver not found then another screen saying how you would like to install driver.....check box very first box (something like let windows find drivers and "icons")
let windows do its searching and it should find the driver and say everything is installed and working

go back to devices and printers look for "samsung cdma modem" (not the serial one) right click > dial-up networking > create new connection

have fun and murley btw.....is that your solution to everything in life

The drivers are on the install cd that came with the Instinct. You may have to copy them onto a flash drive since you are using a netbook. To get them installed:

1. Open the Device Manager.
2. Find the "unknown device" entry you want to update and double-click it.
3. Click the driver tab at the top.
4. Click update driver.
5. Select 'Browse My Computer for driver software."
6. Specify the location that you have the drivers located. (CD or Flash drive path)
7. Viola!

Hope this helps!

Mom, that's about it!  LOL  It's just like the Instinct; after a dozen or so SP# updates, it's finally fairly stable.  See, look at this:

-Headache?  >WinXP   Angry
-Toothache?  >WinXP   Cheesy
-Heartburn?  >WinXP   Embarrassed
-Erectile dysfunction?  >WinXP   Undecided
-Check Engine Light?  >WinXP   Shocked
-Bad Marriage?  >WinXP   Kiss

Seee, XP fixes EVERYTHING!!!

I followed your directions, but mine doesn't say Samsung CDMA modem.  It just says Unknown device.  When I go to the troubleshooting, it tries once again to install the driver and cannot.  Also listed with the "unknown device" (which is the modem) is "samsung cdma modem diagnostic serial port" and "Samsung CDMA technologies"

I haven't tried the drivers from the CD route yet.  I will attempt it.
