I keep hearing about how terrible the browser is.  Exactly what are the gripes?  It seems to be pretty good... better than IE  mobile that I've been using on my other phone.  The scrolling is very smooth, it's pretty fast, generally looks very good.

I suppose Flash support would be nice as would the ability to download.  What else??

Main thing is speeds we should be getting vs. speeds we are. My browser caps @ 600 kbit/s, whille using opera, I get closer to 2000 kbit/s.

The big thing is the browser crashing. If you just got your phone then give it a week or so. After that the browser seems to start crashing on a lot of different pages. You will know when its crashing as the lights will go off then on and then you will see your speed dial lists.

in all fairness to sprint it is pretty a good browser for a version 1.0 that was probably not heavily tested..

and it definately doesnt help that we were all spoiled with opera on our old phones.

I think they will fix alot of the problems soon(next update) and if not someone will make a browser that can do everything we want.

I admit to having fallen behind in my reading of these forums, but what about the inability to submit anything javascript.  Cannot even twitter from this phone, via the web.

As for speed, I usually get to most any page within a few seconds.  The javascript issue is real, I agree.  I've had the phone since the first week it came out, and the browser has crashed a few times, but not too bad.

Probably the issue that I want fixed most is to have the ability to force a webpage to fit within the bounds of the screen.  So, I don't have to scroll horizontally.  I want to use Google Docs, but when I read my docs (I am a public speaker and use the phone to teach from)... I have to scroll horizontally.

I would also like to be able to download docs and stuff like that... but no downloading is allowed.  Of course, with no file browser (probably the most glaring issue), I couldn't find what I downloaded anyway!

Are you sure?  I twitter fine on mine...whether it's through mobile twitter or the main site, through the phone.

In fact, very few sites for me have problems with the text input (though what it does after I input it is another matter)

Can someone give me a page where you have problems inputting text so I see what you're referring to?

It's much preferable to send a text message to Twitter... and even to use www.hellotxt.com to do so.

Maybe there is a big improvement in store for the browser.  Its on the list for the next update.  Give them a chance to correct it, but it would be nice to have the Opera option.  I really hope the keyboard gets fixed for 3rd party software.

Keyboard fix + Opera.  I would preferr they didnt really bother spending time updating the built in browser much (other than maybe the crashing).

Is the speed issue really that great?  To open google search or CNN or something like that... it opens right up.  Where will the speed be that much of a benefit?

Open a page with a lot of graphical content + javascript, several megs worth for example.

OM has a server backend that optimizes the website first, then sends it to your phone so you have to download less data and it transfers faster.

The thing is, opera is 3rd party and the browser is what comes with the phone. So however many people have opera and think it is great, more rely on the built in browser and thus sprint will have to update it.

Probably half or more of the people that have this phone dont even know what operamini is...

Quite sure, I am constantly given the error message:

"Sorry, you can't access this in the way you've tried."

Can't think of any sites off hand, but often get the you have javascript disabled (I don't), try enabling it, also same with cookies.

Um not really, yes I know I can do it via text message.  However I prefer to go to the site and read the current updates from the folks I follow and do a quick update at the same time.

What I end up doing, is doing everything from my WM6.1 work phone.
