3G isn't a technology per say, but rather the 3rd generation in developments in wireless technology.  EVDO rev a is a technology within 3G.

and for the time being, much wider spread of coverage too.

maybe the instinct has wi-max support hidden deep inside under all the bugs once the technology is ready. haha

I would hope so, but I read somewhere there are special chips that are needed in the phones, and from what I understand, we don't have them. Anyone ?

What bugged me was when my coworker walked in with his new shiny iphone and said lets do a speed test. Now I love my instinct. But don't you know he consistently had better DL speeds?

The speeds can change in different areas. Most of the time Instinct wins.

go to a area where there is both good Sprint and ATT converage and then watch your friend cry, or coworker.
