I'm having a problem setting up my wife's phone for Verizon E-Mail.  I've set both my phone and her phone up for AOL E-Mail with no problem but cannot get her phone rolling with Verizon.  Anyone else have this problem?  Thanks.

Welcome to the site, ringmaster!  I'm relocating you over to the new Email section. Take a look through this section at some of the other posts -- while waiting on someone to get back to you on this thread, you might turn up something in one of the other posts that could possibly help in the interim.

Doesn't anyone else have a problem setting up Verizon e-mail?Huh?Huh??  I called Sprint twice again today.  The first guy was an absolute moron.  He told me that I had to set it up on my computer.  Second call a women told me I had to call Verizon.  This is just great.

Can you be more specific with what exactly you are having problems with?  Do you have all of the necessary settings to configure it as an "Other POP" account (as I don't think Verizon e-mail does IMAP, does it)?  I'm not familiar with Verizon e-mail settings personally, but from what I know of other ISPs you may have issues trying to use a Verizon server for sending e-mail from your phone.

Thanks for the reply.  As far as any settings go that's what I have been calling Sprint for.  I don't know what any settings should be.

Google is a wonderful tool Smiley

Verizon incoming mail server: incoming.verizon.net
Verizon outgoing mail server: outgoing.verizon.net

You should set it up as a POP3 account, using your existing password and username for your Verizon account.  Don't be surprised if you can't reply to email or send new from your phone -- many of us across various ISPs are getting errors because the provider blocks outgoing mail not originating from their own server. But, you should be able to read your incoming mail for sure.

Go to Add New E-mail  >  More >   Other POP

Enter your E-mail and Password  > Next

Change Incoming Mail server  to > incoming.verizon.net  > leave everything else > Next

Change Outgoing Mail Server to  > outgoing.verizon.net  > leave everything else > Next

Options Name it however you want to read on your E-Mail list > Next

Account Sign in  > Next

 Done

How do you reset an application?   What did you enter for incoming and outgoing port address?  SSL on or off?  SMTP auth on or off?  Sprint tech support people keep telling that me I have to call Verizon to get this information.

to reset

Main > E-mail > HomePage > Settings ( Gears on top right) > reset Application. This will erase your other accounts but will reset everything for you to start fresh.

As for all those settings Set it up just as I posted  before . They are the Incoming and Outgoing Addresses leave everything else as it is as directed. I think most of it was turned off.

Called Verizon per Sprints instructions.  All they said was Sprint was wrong about having me ask them for port information.  Called Sprint back and the first guy said that the Instinct software is incompatable with Verizon and that Samsung is working on the problem.  I asked for a higher up tech.  She was dumber than dirt but said she was not aware of the incompatability.  She asked questions like "Have to signed on to the dot com"  I said what dot com.  She said "you know the dot com......the internet"  I said what's that got to do with this problem.  She then went on to say that Verizon had to supply the port number.  To make a long story short she said she would have a senior tech call me at 7:00pm.  It's 9pm and I'm still waiting.  Unbelievable!!!!!!!!!! while fooling around with my Instinct (remember I've been trying to deal with my wife's) my Instinct connects with Verizon and adds the account.  Now that is after 50 attempts with that phone also.  I did nothing different.  It just happened.  Tried my wife's phone again 10 times with negative results.  This is insane.  The thing that kills me is that these tech people sit in front of a computer and Google your problem.  They admit it.  Hell I could sit at home and do that.  They should get rid of all those dimwits and reduce my bill.  Everyone I talked to gave me different instructions which they seemed to pull out of their ass.

Yes I have deleted the only other e-mail account (AOL) and started over.  I'm not about to do a hard reset and dump all my wife's contacts etc that took her days to enter.

No, not a hard reset to the entire phone ... a reset specifically to the email application like ImNoPrince suggested. It'll give you a clean slate with the email stuff -- even though you deleted the only account that was there, there could still be something in the background that's funky.

to reset

Main > E-mail > HomePage > Settings ( Gears on top right) > reset Application. This will erase your other accounts but will reset everything for you to start fresh.
