I created this because of the volume of GoDaddy specific users having issues when setting up their account on the Instinct. So lets start with the error that you are getting when setting up the device:

s7122:

A limitation of the POP protocol is that only one email client (Microsoft Outlook, Sprint Mobile Email, Windows Mail, etc) can be using the account at the same time. So if you are using Microsoft Outlook with your POP account and try to set it up on your device, it's most likely going to give you an s7122 error. This is because the account is locked and currently in use by Outlook (or any other client you might use with it). So make sure that all of you other email clients are closed before you set it up on the device.

SIDE NOTE: If you do use outlook or windows mail with the same account that you are getting s7122 on the phone with, try rebooting your computer. Since Microsoft mail clients can download mail in the background and lock the account.

TECH TIP: If you are some what tech oriented, you can run telnet on your POP server from a DOS prompt if you are getting s7122. This will tell you if the account is currently locked or not. If it is, find the email client that's locking it and close it.

s7118:

The s7118 error relates to an invalid user name and/or password. Sometimes it can be related to using the wrong email settings as well, but majority of the time it relates to a bad password.

To make sure your username and password are correct, log into https://email.secureserver.net/login.php before you even attempt to set it up on the device. If you can login successfully through the web page I linked above then you can start configuring it on your device:

Godaddy email settings:

Incoming: pop.secureserver.net (SSL off and use port 110)
Outoing: smtp.sprintpcs.com (SSL and Authentication turned OFF)
Account name: Entire email address. This is the most important step because by default it sets the account name as just the User ID and not the entire email address. If you just click next here, it will fail with s7118.

If you can log into the webview of godaddy and you still get s7118 when using these settings, then make a post in this thread and I can help you out.

Thanks,

Bdroad

I have tried unsuccessfully for 6 months to get my go daddy account to work properly on the Instinct.  I always get the s7118 error for "please check your username and password and try again" but I can log in fine from webmail, and also have outlook set up and it has worked flawlessly.  I have set up outlook and I phones for co-workers using the same settings and they all work fine.  The Instinct does not want to work!!  I welcome ANY help you can provide.

Private message me the email address that you are getting the s7118 error with. I should be able to take care of it for you.

I go email to work but it will only work when I first set it up. When I try to check mail and refresh it gives me a S7122 error message. Unable to connect. Do you have a solution for this?

I have been trying to use your suggestions and several others for several days now and cannot get it to work.  I keep receiving the invalid username/password error (S7118) but I can log into my webmail without an issue on godaddy.com. This is driving me crazy...  Also, I set-up one of my accounts from godaddy on the instinct and that seems to work fine but can't get this other e-mail address to work.

Can someone help with some other suggestions??

I was able to set up my godaddy POP server on the phone, however whenever I open outlook on my desktop, all of the e-mails in the inbox on the instinct get erased............how can I keep the e-mails on the instinct???

Thanks

edit:
NEVER MIND!!

Searched the forum and found the answer!! Thanks BDROAD.....

No, it's all emails.  Once in a while I catch one but if I do a refresh it disappears.  The phone email history shows that I received the emails, they just do not stay on the phone long enough for me to read them.  When I first got the phone and before I replaced the computer all of my emails would show up and stay until I deleted them.

Under account options in outlook, check the box that says "Leave messages on server". This should resolve your issue.

good luck.

Yesterday I followed your godaddy walk through, and it worked like a charm. Thank you. Today, however, it keeps telling me to re-enter my password because it "seems to have changed". Any ideas? Thanks!

About a week or two after I set it up, I got the "password changed" message, so I retyped it and no problems.  Then just this week, I had been missing some emails and I too was getting the message that my password changed.

Message:
The server is too busy to respond to your request.
Please wait a few minutes and try again. (S7147)

Not understanding what does what, I started experimenting by trial and error.  Here is what I had to do.  First I deleted my godaddy email account from the Instinct.

Set up as "more"
Then "other POP"
Type in email address and password

Incoming Mail Server:
mail.[DOMAIN.com] (used to just be only my domain)
Port address: 110
Use SSL: (off)
Account name: name@[domain.com]

Outgoing Mail Server:
Smtp.sprintpcs.com
Port Address: 80 (80 was different than before, when I had 25)
Use SSL: (off)
SMTP auth: (off)

I just tried it tonight, so I'll report back if it stops working.

I did make sure that all my outlooks were closed and I don't have any of the webmails open either. I read the definition that you sent. I am not familiar with telnet, but do know how to get to the dos prompt...
