Hi again.  I use hotmail, I believe I have all the settings correctly, I get the email refreshed on the phone when I hit the refresh button, but no other times.  I have my hotmail settings on the phone set to:
- Get 50 most recent
- Get 3k of text
- Tell me I have mail OFF
- Auto receive ON

Now I DO NOT want to be notified I have email, the thing would be going off all the time, but I DO WANT IT TO AUTOMATICALLY go fetch the mail off hotmail's servers every x # of minutes or as soon as I get an email.

Does anyone know how long the times is in between auto-receives?  Outlook and Outlook express, windows live mail, etc let you change it from 1min to basically whatever you want.  My windows live account is set to 1min...not that it makes a diff for the phone probably.

Anyone have any suggestions or fixes?
thx

Ok cool, I am not going crazy, however it just must have kicked in or who knows, it seems to be working...at the moment.  However, it would be cool to know how often it syncs with hotmail/gmail, etc.

If you're using one of the pre-defined e-mail providers (AOL, Gmail, etc.l) that support IMAP, you should basically be getting push e-mail where the e-mail shows up on your phone as it is received by your provider.  You have to allow a little lag time though--I usually get my Gmail notifications within 20 seconds.  I think there have been some server issues today as earlier I wasn't getting any notifications, but now it is working again.

If you configure an "Other" e-mail account, your phone will only check for e-mails once every 15 minutes.

Well, I may have spoken too soon, it has been over 2hrs now, and no email notification.  It did it once, and never again for some reason today.  Rebooted phone, now just waiting.  Nope nothing. Very frustrating.  I have 6 signal bars too if that means anything these days.  Hopefully we can chalk it up to bad servers today...the day I am testing it all out Smiley

*sigh*

It appears there may be server issues again.  I'm no longer getting e-mails unless I manually refresh, and the last time I did that it prompted me for my password saying that it had apparently changed, which it did not.  So today's probably not the best day for testing things out.  Hopefully this will be resolved soon.

My Verizon came through a little while ago but still have to Refresh the Hotmail account. It's spotty at best so I think it's on their side not the Phone it's self. I can live with it as anything that comes in on my 3 accounts is not really time sencetive.

OK I have been tracking this...because this feature is very important to me and other people I would imagine.  This morning it seemed to work just fine, however I did not pay attention to the time I got the message on hotmail and the phone...I was in the car and could not check.  However, since about 7:30 AM PT today, I have not gotten a darn thing.  So I go to manually refresh the phone, and it tells me that my security key is no longer valid, and it takes me through the entire email setup process again, everything got wiped out, my hotmail and my work email.  I will attempt to test this feature again and will update once applicable.  Did anyone else have the same problem today?

When I stop receiving e-mails from my comcast and yahoo accounts, I go to the settings and update my data profile. I know this is a pain and it seems I have to do this about every two days, but once I have doen that my e-mails start arriving.

My Gmail was working fine since I got my instinct on the 8th (with the exception of server issues for a few hours one day last week), until yesterday.  Yesterday there were issues off and on most of the day.  Three different times when I went to refresh e-mail manually (because push wasn't working), it prompted me for a new password as it said my password seems to have changed.  My password never changed, and all three times I just re-entered my password and then it downloaded mail.

I know that SEVEN was doing maintenance yesterday afternoon which I thought was only supposed to affect the newer version of their software (which is in beta and not currently used by Sprint), but maybe that also had an effect on Sprint mail too?  Or maybe just a coincidence.  Anyway, things seem to be back to normal for me today.  Hope they stay that well, because when e-mail does work it works great for me.

Yeah, I am tracking right now, it is anywhere between 3-20min I get emails now.  It is very inconsistent, which does not make sense to me.  (both hotmail and work) (I normally get one every minute at work so I am a good test subject I think)  Smiley.  Hopefully it will be fixed is right, because it is going right back if they can't get it straight.  Also, what can you tell me about SEVEN, what is their website, and do you know what the new updates for the software are by any chance or if there is another thred on this subject?

Take a look here at this thread ... someone from SEVEN posted with us an email address where they are taking feedback on the email app. I urge you to share feedback with them.
