Greetings,
Just got my Instinct today.
I run my own mail server for all my domains.
I setup up my first Other Pop3 account easily - worked like a charm.
However, when I started to try to add additional accounts on the same server - either under the same domain name or another domain on the same server - I would always get error S7118 on its first attempt to login - saying to check the username/password.

I checked my server logs, and every time I check mail for the first account - I see where the sprint service logs in normally.  However, on the other accounts, the service makes a connection, but never sends the login data - it just makes a connection, then logs out.  I even tried setting up a second account using the servers IP address instead of one of the domain names - but same results.  Sample of mail logs below:

Dec 10 13:36:14 tjwalker pop3d: LOGIN, user=DELETED FOR PRIVACY, ip=[::ffff:66.35.228.134]
Dec 10 13:36:14 tjwalker pop3d: LOGOUT, user=DELETED FOR PRIVACY, ip=[::ffff:66.35.228.134], top=0, retr=0, time=0
THE ABOVE IS THE ACCOUNT THAT WORKS, THE BELOW IS FROM THE OTHER ACCOUNTS
Dec 10 13:37:18 tjwalker pop3d: Connection, ip=[::ffff:66.35.228.134]
Dec 10 13:37:23 tjwalker pop3d: LOGOUT, ip=[::ffff:66.35.228.134]
Dec 10 13:39:04 tjwalker pop3d: Connection, ip=[::ffff:66.35.228.134]
Dec 10 13:39:09 tjwalker pop3d: LOGOUT, ip=[::ffff:66.35.228.134]

I REALLY need to be able to check multiple POP3 accounts on the same server and certainly shouldn't be having this kind of problem - where secondary accounts don't even try to login after making a connection.

Any help would be appreciated.

Hmm. This is a tough one. If you want to create a test account on your pop server then private message me the credentials I can tell you why its failling from viewing the server logs. Thats really the only thing I can do to help at this point.

Greetings,
Do you work for Sprint? I spent over an hour in chat with their tech support after making the original post here. The tech I was working with checked directly with the Instinct support team - their response was that the current version of the Instinct and/or email software only supports one account per server based on the server IP address.  How stupid is that?  Such a very simple little bug to fix.

Basically, once I setup the first account on a server (the sprint email software then translates the domain name into server IP address) - the software says "OK - this is the only username/password you can use for that server", so when you try to setup other accounts using a different user/password - the software says "That's not what you said the first time, so I won't even try it".

I can't be the only small business owner who has multiple boxes on the same server - sales@, support@, etc.

Sprint said this would have to be an update from Samsung - which doesn't make sense since I believe they use a third-party software/interface for the email?

Anyway, if you work for Sprint, and think there is a way around this - I would be glad to setup a test account for you, etc.

Thanks,

I dont believe that is true just based on the fact that we have hundreds of POP ISP's such as road runner that have thousands of users that im sure some, but not all are provisioned under the same IP address.

But if you want to provide me with credentials in a private message I can give you a solid answer or possibly a resolution.

I work for the 3rd party company that created the application.
