Never say never.... Sprint stock is now at $2.64, Verizon is over $34... it could be a great investment for Verizon

To my understanding though the hardware for Verizon and Sprint work off of different technologies and it would be more trouble than it is worth.

Unless they bought it and kept them on their own towers and everything. Wouldn't make a whole lot of sense though, you're right

Verizon has the same type of network that Sprint has. They are cdma. Your friend must have rocks in his head to spew something like that.

Also another point is that Sprint Is CDMA and So is Verizon.  Nextel is gsm.  The instincts run on the Sprint network.  When I was last in the Sprint store it looks like they have even moved nextel onto CDMA with is why The new phones with Direct Connect only work when there is EVDO or 3G coverage.  I don't think a verizon Sprint Merger would happen.

Even if Verizon had the cash to do it, the Department of Justice would make Verizon sell off the majority  of sprint towers, just like they are making Verizon do with the Altel towers.

Nextel is IDEN.  Still is.  Sprint brought out some dual-mode "power source" phones that use CDMA for voice and data, and IDEN for direct connect.  I haven't read anything on it lately but they also were working on a CDMA version of direct connect.(Qchat I think)

I come from Verizon. I hate it. If this is true i'm bailing out. Even if I have to pay the 200 bucks...
