Yup, just got my bill. Called Bell for clarification and yes you get charged $15.00/Meg for tethering. I was really hoping that they couldn't tell the difference since I do have the fun20 bundle.
Damn!

i did but i fought with them and got them to reduce it from $300 to the $100 data plan. so if you want to pay a little extra you can pay to use the tethering. and hell you guys are lucky i was told it was a fee of $50+ dollars for tethering.

So what about the crack that the Sprint people use, does that make it so that Bell/sprint can't tell the difference between mobile and data? I know lots of people in the states are using it with no charges to their bill.

Just go to youtube and type in samsung instinct modem, and i'm sure its on this website too. Its just the ##debugmenu# and then you are supposed to enter your MSL number, then a turn off a switch and hook it up to your comp via bluetooth.  Its that switch that you turn off that i'm wondering about..does turning that one feature off make it indetectable to Bell when tethering? also when i goto put my msl # in it says its wrong but i called Bell twice and got the number right from them so i dunno.

When the instinct was released, there was no way for sprint users to use it as a modem. So they did find a way to do it by cracking it. Now it is possible for them, so no need for a crack anymore, and anyway it is free in their "simply everything plan" i think.

Whatever you do, bell will charge you.

Bell will know and will charge, as your phone up here has to connect to Bell before it does anything.  Sprint and other US providers actually use roaming for better reception so hard to track.
