As you may know Bell has many known issues with the Instinct. Many os us are trying to get updates and changes as did the Sprint users. Most of us feel Bell is dropping the ball on this. I have made a petition for us to sign here:

http://www.petitionspot.com/petitions/BellSamsungInstinct

Please take your time to sign this.

Thanks!  Grin

I signed... I would like to see more support here, Bell seems to need some attention brought to the issue before they'll do anything. Something else people can do (if they use Twitter) is to start sending messages to @theinstinct (http://twitter.com/theinstinct). The person behind that account is a marketing person, but they're very nice and managed to get the Samsung Canada marketing manager for the Instinct to give me a call so I could voice my concerns. @theinstinct has direct ties to Samsung that seem to be able to get things done. Make yourself heard everywhere you can.

This is good to know I am not a user of twitter but will look into this more. Maybe some other Bell Instinct owners that use Twitter can take charge of this?

All of this work is paying off:

New Update from Bell today.

My contact did call me back and said these fixes are now with Samsung and they are building a patch fix for the Bell Samsung. They do not know the day this will be launched OTA but he will call me on a weekly bases to keep me updated on this date. Once I hear from them the date I will let you all know.

I called bell at 611 support.  They asked me to take the battery out, I lost it.  They said take the phone back for a new one for the 4th time, then they said take it to the repair shop, I take it to the repair shop, guy told me its not the same phone as sprint pcs its a different instinct and a different technology or something.  He gave me the data number to call.

Kelvin told me they are aware of the Microbrew word its a slang word for hacking or something and it reboots the phone along with other words too.  He said there is going to be a patch to fix issues with this phone, sooner rather than later, he couldn't speculate.

Now, I was asked to read the manual, if its not in the manual its not a feature of the phone, lol

Hey folks,

so any updates from Bell Echomatics?  I spoke to them recently, and Samsung, and I was told that there are currently no patches in the works at Samsung Canada.

The "different" Instinct than Sprint has is actually just the software loaded to the phone.  If you notice, all Bell phones follow a specific menu style, and Bell makes sure that you can't bring an unlocked or other companies phone to them.  I had the exact same M-620 Upstage phone from Telus that they would not hook up, but Telus had no problem hooking up the one from Bell, just needed  a software/firmware load for Telus.

Echomatics.... On your petition you talk about the Bluetooth stereo slowing down and speeding up on the Instinct.  I get the same problem, but on every Samsung phone (4) I have owned over the last 4 years it has been the same thing, so I think it is something with the way Bell or Samsung makes the music player communicate with Bluetooth, I don't believe it5 is just the Instinct.  I wish they could fix it, because it is as frustrating as ever...that is part of the reason I upgraded to the Instinct, same problem, so I think it may be the Music player.

Anyhow...let's keep flooding Bell with this issue, and maybe they will actually listen if you have the problem escalated.

Cheers all

As per my post in:

http://www.instinct-samsung.com/samsung-instinct-in-canada/*update-on-information-from-bell-on-firmware-updates!/new/?topicseen#new

Quote
Have a new update from Bell today.

Peter one of the tech supers called me after a conference they had with Samsung and the Bell staff. The news is that they are 100% working on a patch with known Bell Instinct issues. He still can't give me a hard date even after pushing the question. His answer is they are trying to make sure it works as needed and all fixes are added. I did ask if the LCDUI issue came up in this call and his answer was no. The first update will be for pending issues only (website crashing etc). He wanted me to pass off to you all that they are "Not Slacking" and know it has issues and will be fixing it. His words where "This is are most popular phone so we have a high interest in keeping you all happy".

So looks like end of Dec date sounds about right still. He will call me once he has a hard date and I will of course let you all know.

Maybe some light at the end of the tunnel?

The Instinct is a great phone.  Yes the Storm is really cool, but two completely different phones all together.

I know the Instinct has some issues, but they will get fixed, probably sooner than later now as we just received one update.

Plus the price difference between the two phones alone....

The music player does support WMA, problem is it does not recognize them, this trick worked for me: rename the extension from WMA to MP3 on your computer then copy to MicroSD, it will play them fine.
