Can someone tell me which apps the accelerometer works with. I am seeing it only with messaging and internet. Should it work with others? Also, can you tell me if there is a delay between the change in orientation. I may take this one back because it worked yesterday but today it is taking forever to swap the layout and sometimes it's not swapping it at all.

So the accelerometrer kicks in on the Opera mobile web browser using the keyboard, same on twitter and the other built-in apps.  Guy posted a short review and couldn't get the keyboard to flip on his earlier video, causing a lot of fun on the board.  Glad to see it works all the same

I was going to return it for two reasons. The first is that the pictures in the manual show it on a main screen with icons. The second reason is because it sometimes takes more than a few seconds to rotate. I decided not to bother returning it because it works most of the time and I might get another one that has Wifi issues or something worse;) I think this accelerometer issue could be fixed with a firmware update....right?

No doubt at all a firmware update would resolve the issues.
I would take time to note what bugs it has on the Sprint website for the reps to see, so things can get rolling on the update.  Being a capacitive screen, I wouldn't be surprised to see multi-touch, or even a pinch to zoom over the tap to zoom added in time.  Never know with Sprint.
Can't wait to get this phone, I know this much...

I you refering to the home screen being the favorites page?  If so that bothers me also.  I wish you could have a home page with just a clock and th edate or something, kinda like when you have to unlock it.  Oh well I will play with this phone for the next two weeks.  Unless I truely fall in love with it, it will be returned for the Hero.  But I am having fun learning  the phone, and my accelrometer does not kick in always either, its easier and faster just to hit the button to do it.

The picture in the manual looks like it might be on the Fun screen. However, as an instructional designer (similar to a tech writer) I would be that the people that wrote the manual haver never, ever touched this phone. They wrote it from the specs not from hands on experience. Thanks for the info about your accelerometer. I'll just keep it and go over to the Sprint site and post about the issue. Hopefully a firmware update is in the near future.

About the Hero. I wanted it too but I am not impressed with the available apps. I figure I'll go another year or two with the Instinct and then switch to Android when it has truly had time to come into its own.

I have wondered if it does have something to do with low battery. It seems to be working fine now and my battery is fully charged.

FYI, the accelerometer works very nice with the navigation app. Really makes the phone look like a stand alone aftermarket nav system. Rotate it 90 degrees counter clockwise and you'll see what I mean. Looks very nice an that new super loud external speaker is ridiculous even a low volumes. I can see it working very well with the sound bouncing off the windshield back into the cabin.
I'm fooling around with it right now while sitting at my desk on my computer.

Just noticed, you actually get more info on screen in landscape mode. Distance to target and ETA are able to be shown on the same screen(left sidebar) instead of having to switch between the two and you also get a satellite signal indicator indicating up to five bars of satellite coverage!  Very cool. Very cool indeed.

And put it in a seperate thread for navigation.... Wink

But on topic, my accelerometer is working fine now that i've been through the learning curve on it.  It definitely has everything to do with the tilt of the phone.  If I rotate the phone and the display doesn't follow suit, usually all I have to do is tilt the phone towards me a little and it will work.  I've had to exit/re-enter messaging a couple of times because it refused to work, but overall it's working fine for me now.

Sorry guys, thought I was on topic based on the OP question regarding what apps work with the accelerometer.
I will try to take some pics with another camera of the navigation interface.
